  • Her real name was Priscilla Maria Veronica White, but the Merseybeat newsletter managed to call her "Cilla Black"

  •  Her stage name was "Swinging Cilla".

  • Her first number 1 was Anyone Who Had A Heart, which stayed at the top spot for 3 weeks in February 1963. 

  • She said the most embarrassing moment of her career was when a man proposed on Surprise Surprise - and his girlfriend said no.

  • She was friends with the Beatles .She often sang with The Beatles and in 1963 was the first female artists to be signed by their manager Brian Epstein.

  • She lived next door to Mary Berry

  • She turned down Strictly Come Dancing - more than once

  • She asked her late husband Bobby to turn down a record contract

  • She always wanted to crack America.

  • The song went on to sell over 1 million copies worldwide as did her second UK number 1, You're My World.

  • When she fronted-up Blind Date she was the highest-paid female presenter on TV

  • She once rowed with the Guardian over an X-rated front page

  • The couple had three sons together; Robert, Ben and Jack. They also had a daughter, Ellen, in 1975 but sadly she only lived for 2 hours.
